Second Fundraising Report

Dear Friends of awate.com,

In our second report we  would like to inform you that as April 5, 2012, you have donated a a total of $5,138.00 (five-thousand, one-hundred and thirty-eight dollars less 3.95% fee for donations made through paypal.)

The donations are as follows: Europe ($1,480); Australia/New Zeland ($953); North America ($1,724); Middle East ($300); Unspecified Addresses ($679).

As you remember, our appeal for donation was announced on March 12, 2012, and as we mentioned in our first report on March 24, 2012, awate.com has more than 7000 visitors on a daily basis. It is our hope that enough readers will be generous enough at least to help maintain this website that has been serving them for many years. We appeal to you to help us bear the burden by chipping in whatever their budget allows. You have always counted on us; and now we are counting on you.

We hope our readers will be responsive and help generously so that we can reach our goal of $12,000 and move to our next plan.

We would like to emphasize that those who have responded to our appeal, though very few, have been generous. We hope the rest will respond and help us reach our goal of $12,000 so that we can focus on running this website as smoothly as we have been doing since 2000.

For those of you who have contributed, you will recieve your reciept on the mail very soon. If you haven’t indicated your mailing address, we will send you e-mails. We appreciate your generosity, thank you.

To keep you abreast of the developments, we will contune to give you a status report every two weeks or so.

    Congratulations!
Go on! you will succeed. And we are on your side from inside the country. But what I suggest you is that you should use the existing technology to organize the youth. Then you may be able to arm the youth with ICTs that are out of the government control. This is the Libyans did when Tripoli was with full controll of the dictator, who died the worst death, which I hope to ours.

I advice Awate to suspend its service for a while and start all over again and see if people would miss it or not. My friend wants to contribute but he is scared of being exposed as a contributor to the opposition if in case some kind of security breach to the website happens….Seb tedahilu eyu ….

      Berhegeb,
      1. Suspend service? Who would want us to do that? But Nope, we will not do that.
      2. There are many ways of contributing. How about sending a money order? If your “friend” wants to donate, there are many ways for that.
      3. Encourage your friend to be a little braver. The days of fearing the PFDJ are gone. Now the majority of Eritreans fear not to be percieved as ‘individuals who fear the PFDJ’.
